# My Doctor Prescribed Product Videos for Insomnia 🎬 | DevReel Weekly #2

**Yo! Back for #2! Last week's launch got some amazing responses** (especially about that story framework and 400 subscribers in the first week!!).

**99% of product or announcement videos are bedtime stories**.

Boring. Predictable. Forgettable.

I'm trying hard to avoid that, and today, I'm sharing what is helping me achieve it.

### 📺 Video of the Week

I love video announcements that feel like mini-movies and can **deliver a story without saying a single word**. [Aaron Francis](https://www.linkedin.com/in/aarondfrancis/) did it with his "Mastering Postgres" launch video.

**Aaron is one of my role models when it comes to video creation,** and here's why:

* Uses **camera angles and focal length** like a film director.

* Practical lighting that **builds intrigue** (no fancy setup, just smart placement)

* Shows how different shots can support your narrative (**no random B-roll here!**)

I had the privilege of [hosting Aaron on my podcast](https://www.youtube.com/live/evyCg4DBXQ8?si=jt118C053yAIRSnJ&t=204) and learned a lot from him. You might also learn a thing or two from his wisdom.

I created my last video with this purpose in mind. **Sound, Composition, Color Grading, and Cinematography** all working together to deliver a story, and I'm proud of the result.

## 🎯 Tip of the Week: Impactful Writing

**Everything starts with writing**. I've learned the hard way that a solid script is way more than half the battle for a good video[.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-C1SgCmJ0E)

**I’m obsessed with mastering copywriting and diving** into the science and techniques behind it.

**The best person to learn from? Harry Dry**. He got as a guest at an absolutely brilliant podcast, linked below:

Here are my top two takeaways:

1. When writing, ask yourself three questions: **Can you visualize it?** **Is it impossible to prove it wrong? Are you the only one who can say it?** If you get three yeses, you're onto something good.

2. **Good writing comes from re-writing**. No one nails it on the first try.

## 🛠️ Resource of the Week: Insta360

You might say: "But I don't have anyone to film me!" - **Same here 👋**! I have to shoot every single take myself (sometimes my wife), which takes time; sometimes, you do not have time.

The [Insta360 X4](https://amzn.to/4iS90Uw) is a great resource because it gets the whole thing; **you hit record and forget about framing** and adjust everything in the post (zoom, pan, frame). This gives you a lot of freedom, [check this video where I use it](https://youtu.be/CiHQi3jcdko?si=GLWpJdjmraTlbEKv&t=132)

Why do I like it? **Stabilization** is really good; it can record and export in **ProRes 422** and has handy features like Deep Track and AI editing that help speed up editing. Finally, the sound recording from it is not the best, but I got a [cheap mic adapter](https://amzn.to/3VRft8w) and I plug my wireless mics so I get crisp audio.

**And that's a wrap!** If you learned something today, share it. If you didn't learn anything, **share it.**

Have a creative week, and keep producing!
